The Police TVET College, located in Addis Ababa’s Kolfe sub-city, was formerly known as the Police Force Training School and has been providing specialized police training since the 1930s. Established under Emperor Haile Selassie’s order, it played a pivotal role in forming Ethiopia’s Rapid Police Force and notably trained Nelson Mandela in 1963. The College was reorganized in 2021 as a licensed Police TVET College under the Ethiopian Police University’s Training Vice President. It comprises eight departments: Arts Training, Auto Mechanics and Driver Training, Police Special Professions, Construction and Engineering, Management, Wood and Metal Education, IT & Communication, and Procurement, Finance, Health, and General Services. As a police TVET college, its primary function is to deliver career oriented, practical education that equips police personnel with the technical, operational, and vocational skills required for modern law enforcement and public safety services.
