Ethiopian Police University Records Strong Performance in Education and TrainingJanuary 12, 2026– Bishoftu**
The Ethiopian Police University has recorded significant achievements in the education and training sector, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ethiopian Federal Police, Honorable Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael, stated.
The Commissioner General made the remarks during the Ethiopian Federal Police six-month performance review program held in Bishoftu city. He noted that the Ethiopian Federal Police delivered effective results during the reporting period and emphasized that the 79-year-old Ethiopian Police University carried out extensive and impactful work in education and training.
According to the Commissioner General, the University’s six-month performance highlights include the launching of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs, the training and graduation of the first Ethiopian Federal Police Special Commando members in the history of the institution, and the timely completion of construction and renovation works at the Ethiopian Police Academy in Awash 7 Kilo. These efforts, he stated, have created a conducive environment for training and demonstrate the Federal Police’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity.
Ethiopian Police University Interim President, Dr. Tamrat Mulugeta, in his briefing, stated that the University achieved commendable results in education and training, research and consultancy, human resource development, and other priority areas during the six-month period.
The President further explained that the University launched two PhD programs and one undergraduate degree program. He added that the institution has enhanced its capacity to independently provide leadership and capacity-building training and is making encouraging progress in technology utilization and institutional transformation initiatives.
