The Centre for Distance and Continuing Education provides flexible and accessible education programs tailored for police officers who cannot attend regular classes due to professional commitments. It offers three main programs: the Extension Program, launched in 2019, delivers BA degrees in Police Management, Crime Investigation, and Crime Prevention, allowing officers to balance work and studies. The Distance Program, introduced in 2025, includes two BA degrees in Crime Prevention and Police Management, catering to officers with demanding operational duties. Additionally, the Alternative Education Program, in collaboration with the Defense Education Directorate, helps officers complete foundational education (grades 7–12), with plans to establish independent programs pending regulatory approval. These initiatives enhance officers’ qualifications, support career advancement, and strengthen Ethiopia’s law enforcement capabilities through inclusive and adaptable learning solutions.
